How to Use TRICARE and TriWest for Mental Health

Obtaining treatment for PTSD, depression, anxiety or other mental health concerns with TRICARE or TriWest insurance can sometimes be a confusing process. Don’t worry – the guide below simplifies the process so you know exactly what is required to receive authorization for treatment.

We work closely with TRICARE and TriWest to make the process as smooth as possible for you. Our providers and staff are very familiar with the requirements to receive treatment authorization and will help you every step of the way.

What We Need From You

      1. Photocopy of front and back of the DOD card
      2. Sponsor’s Name and Date of Birth
      3. Sponsor’s Social Security Number (TRICARE requires us to submit the Sponsor’s SSN)
      4. If you have an existing authorization for another provider, you must first cancel the existing authorization.

      4. Request VA Referral/Authorization (download our Care Coordination Form)
          • Schedule an appointment to see your PCM. Bring our Care Coordination Form to the appointment
          • If you have an existing authorization for another provider:  You must ask your PCP to add Colorado Recovery Solutions and TMS to the referral.

TRICARE Benefits For Our Services

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a limited benefit for beneficiaries age 18 and older with major depression. Prior authorization is required.

To expedite the review process, we will attach a Letter of Attestation in lieu of clinical documentation to the authorization request.

 

 

 2023 TRICARE Deductible Information

A beneficiary’s deductible is determined by the sponsor’s initial enlistment or appointment date:

      • Group A: Sponsor’s enlistment or appointment date occurred prior to Jan. 1, 2018
      • Group B: Sponsor’s enlistment or appointment date occurred on or after Jan. 1, 2018
  • Deductibles must be met before TRICARE benefits are payable.
  • Once the deductible is met, cost-shares apply.
  • Network providers can collect at a minimum the copayment at the time of service. A provider may also collect the outstanding balance of the deductible. The explanation of benefits (EOB) will inform the beneficiary and provider of the allowed amount and patient responsibility.
  • Deductibles apply to the catastrophic cap.
  • TRICARE Select, TRICARE Young Adult Select, TRICARE Reserve Select, and TRICARE Retired Reserve deductibles do not apply to preventive services.
