Ryan Johnson

Dr. Ryan Johnson (“Dr. Ryan”) miraculously completed his degree in Electrical Engineering at Kansas State University.  Realizing that he was not cut out to be an engineer, Dr. Ryan went on to complete medical school at the University of Kansas. After completing a three year residency in rural family medicine at Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita, KS, he obtained his board certification through the American Board of Family Medicine.  He later served four years as faculty at The Ohio State Rural Family Medicine Residency.  Over his many years of teaching residents and providing full spectrum medical care to rural peoples, Dr. Ryan was privileged to work with underserved people throughout Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, West Texas, Ohio, Africa, Eastern Europe and China.

In support of the Air Force and his family, as a military spouse, Dr. Ryan chose to transition into full time emergency medicine for over ten years. While working in so many diverse and underserved regions, Dr. Ryan gradually realized the need for more physicians practicing in the behavioral health realm. As such, he was inspired to shift his career focus to developing his expertise in addiction medicine.  In late 2018, he accepted the challenging role of medical director for a new local detox center and residential addiction treatment facility in Colorado Springs. In early 2022, Dr. Ryan went on to successfully earn his board certification in Addiction Medicine from the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM). His clear passion for providing full spectrum, compassionate addiction medical care inspired the opening of Colorado Recovery Solutions(CRS).

As co-founder and partner at CRS, Dr Ryan strives to provide accessible specialized outpatient medical care to those suffering from addiction as well as their underlying mental health and chronic pain conditions.

In his free time, Dr. Ryan loves exploring the Colorado mountains and national parks while spending time with his wife and three children.
